No News Is Good News

Dad is still making the slow and steady climb to full recovery. Mom has been visiting him during the day while Matt and I work, and we've been letting him sleep at night. Mom said during her visit today, Dad seemed more coherent and aware of his surroundings... he was making jokes and even asked her about their income tax returns, so he's thinking much more clearly. He was out of bed and in his his chair for a short time yesterday (Wednesday) and today he sat up in bed, but didn't get out of bed.

Our bishop, who is also a doctor, visited him briefly this morning and said he seemed to be doing well. The Bishop said Dad asked him, "How is Ellen?" and the bishop told him she seemed to be doing just fine. Dad said, "I worry about her." The fact that he's asking about mom and wondering about income tax returns tells me he's improving a little bit every day.

The nurse told me this morning that he's still working on clearing his lungs, but overall he's doing well and seems to be getting some decent rest the last couple of nights.

So, while we don't have a lot to report, no news is good news. The three of us will be visiting Dad in the morning, so we'll be able to post a more thorough update tomorrow evening.

Thanks to all of you who are leaving comments and keeping our family in your thoughts and prayers. It is appreciated more than we can express.

Melanie thanks for creating this blog where we can share some thoughts for you to share with Pete and Ellen. We wish him the best and have have him in our thoughts and prayers always. You too Ellen. We have both of your names and your families names in the temple every week when we are there. Tell Pete that Cathy was up at the cabin cleaning and yes moving rocks! She missed not seeing the lights on at the cabin at night and then having the lights turn off at 10:00 p.m. like clock work. Tell the Pete the rock and pot guts are out in full force and we need to get the thinning process started. The big cow moose was grazing in front of both cabins wondering where both Ellen and Pete are. The river is full and muddy. We had some snow last weekend and is just about gone. God's speed to hurry up and get well and get up to the cabin where you belong in the summer. It's just not the same with you both not at the cabin. We all love you and Ellen and the family and wish you all the best. Love Mike and Cathy Ridd.

Thank you Melanie for keeping us posted on Pete's progress . We are very much encouraged by the latest reports. Tell Pete that our efforts to fertilize the pastures were snowed out on Saturday, but the ground was dry enough to allow the applicator truck access on Wednesday. With any luck at all things will be elegant and green when Ellen and Pete arrive later in the summer. We continue to pray for a strong recovery ! Much love...George and Janice Spencer

Good Evening, Peter,

Bill and I just read the latest that Melenie has posted on your progress and we are happy that things are looking up and you are looking much better.

We know you are on the mend if you are checking on your income tax filing! And your concern for Ellen was nice as she is so devoted, as always, and with you each day for moral support

Melenie and Matt are talented and loving to you and to family and friends providing this blog for your updates and giving us a chance to say Hi.

Our love, prayers and good wishes continue each day for your steady recovery.

Rosemarie and Bill
